This month is B Corp Month. A month where we celebrate what it means to be part of ‘Generation B’, a global network of B Corps who are leading the way in doing business differently.

At Beyond Bank, we have been a Certified B Corp since 2015. As we approach our ten-year anniversary of being a B Corp, we will be celebrating what it means to be part of ‘Generation B’, continuing our work as a bank with a purpose.

We remain passionate about using our business as a force for good to improve the financial wellbeing of our customers and communities.

What is a B Corp?

B Corps are organisations who operate for people and the planet. As a B Corp, it’s our job to be transparent about our business activities, and the impact they have on our customers, our people, the environment and the communities we support. We’re also committed to sound, transparent governance principles.

As a B Corp, we are independently assessed on five key impact areas: workers, customers, environment, community and governance. B Corps work together as a community of businesses to drive collective action for positive change.

What does Beyond Bank do as a Certified B Corp?

Being a B Corp is an important part of who we are at Beyond Bank. Our goals as a B Corp are ever expanding as we develop new ways to create social and environmental good for our people, customers and the planet.

In the past year, we have given $1.1 million in community grants and investments to organisations and causes that have a positive impact on our customers and their communities.

Here are some of the other things we’re doing to create social and environmental good:

  • 100% customer-owned
  • 100% renewable energy by the end of FY2025
  • Tracking our energy, water use and waste output
  • Using hybrid fleet vehicles
  • Ethical marketing policies
  • Community partnerships
  • Maintaining bricks and mortar locations in regional areas
  • Improving our diversity and inclusion hiring practices
  • Improving our intern hiring practices
  • Staff volunteering
  • Double Donation fundraiser
  • Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Disability Access and Inclusion Plan
  • Customer education and resources
  • Our Australian-based customer contact centre
  • Use of National Relay Service for customers who are hard of hearing

Globally, there are more than 9,000 Certified B Corps, with that number rising all the time. In being a B Corp, we are part of a larger global vision. B Corps strive to eradicate economic and social inequality and address issues of climate change. The B Corp movement is committed to establishing that there is a better way to do business, putting people and the planet before profit.

At Beyond Bank, we are proud to be part of the B Corp movement.
