AWA and Give Where You Live enter into an exciting partnership

Give Where You Live (GWYL)  are a Geelong philanthropic organisation that bring together individual community donors, corporate supporters and service delivery partners to create long term sustainable change for those suffering the effects of disadvantage within the Geelong community. AWA has had a relationship with GWYL over a number of years courtesy of our long standing links with Alcoa.

AWA Alliance Bank know that community connections matter and are very conscious of the role it play’s in being socially responsible within our communities.  Strong ties with family, friends and the community provide people with happiness, security, support and a sense of purpose and that this connectedness builds resilience in people.

This is why we partnered with GWYL as we know our values and goals are strongly aligned and that we can tap into their experience and expertise with the Community Connections Grant program which will deliver the best outcome for our philanthropic dollars.

We would like to thank Bill Mithen (GWYL) and his team for their work in setting up the partnership and facilitating our request to have our funds specifically aligned with social isolation. AWA and GWYL recognise the importance of social inclusion and the effect that poor health, limited income and inadequate education has on people in our region.

AWA would like to congratulate the following organisations on being successful with the latest round of Community Connection Grants:

Back to Back Theatre, Barwon Disability Resource Council, Community Hub, Delta Society, Geelong Mums, Lazarus Community Centre, OneCare Geelong, Riding for the Disabled- Barwon Centre and Solve Disability Solutions
