AWA celebrates 50th Anniversary

On the 18th of October AWA celebrated 50 years of operations. The event provided an opportunity to thank all Staff, Directors and Members for their on-going and past efforts throughout their history with a celebration at GMHBA Stadium.

The night featured many 1969 themes, including historical photos and live music from the era. AWA has a very active philanthropic and community ethos and supports many beneficiaries in the G21 region.  Much of this support is channelled through the Give Where You Live Foundation represented on the night by CEO Bill Mithen who gave an eye opening overview of future challenges in the Geelong region. Other special guests included Elaine Carbines (AWA Director, Barwon Water Deputy Chair, G21 CEO), Christine Couzens MP (State Member for Geelong), Pat Murnane (Councillor representing the Kardinia Ward within the City of Greater Geelong), John Osborne (Alcoa’s Director for Asset & Planning Management) and others.

CEO Graeme Scannell noted, “Although we have taken some time to reflect on what has been achieved over the first 50 years it is what we have in front of us that makes me excited. By evolving into the organization that we have become (via the Alliance Bank Solution) we have flexibility to achieve so much more and to make such a significant difference moving forward.”

We now look forward to continuing our ethical approach to banking and making a significant contribution to improve the financial wellbeing of our members and their communities.
